06 04 2022 COMMISSION FOR GENDER EQUALITY ON CALLS FOR GBV DEDICATED UNITS ACROSS THE COUNTRY
The Commission for Gender Equality (CGE), represented by spokesperson Javu Baloyi, is urging the new SAPS Commissioner to establish fully functional, resource-equipped GBV (Gender-Based Violence) units nationwide. Existing units are not operating effectively due to lack of resources, personnel, and forensic investigators, leading to backlogs in cases.

THE INCREASE IN INCIDENS OF GBV ACROSS VHEMBE DISTRICT - 26 12 2022
During the festive season, incidents of gender-based violence (GBV) have increased in Vhembe District. Contributing factors include poor communication between couples and men isolating themselves from their families, which escalates the risk of violence. Notably, more men are also becoming victims of GBV, particularly among those born in 1987. The Real Men Foundation and Calvin Nengudza have highlighted these concerns in their interviews.

During the program, Itani Nengudza, founder of the Real Men Foundation, discussed the effectiveness of the 16 Days Against GBV campaign. He highlighted that many men experience gender-based violence but are often reluctant to speak out due to cultural norms discouraging vulnerability. This silence can lead to severe consequences, including suicide. The interview emphasized the importance of campaigns designed to encourage men to seek help and communicate when facing difficulties
