Bronkhorstspruit water still not suitable for drinking

Gauteng- Authorities are investigating more than 100 reported cases of diarrhoea and other gastrointestinal illnesses in Bronkhorstspruit, east of Pretoria, over the past two weeks. The Mayor of Tshwane Dr Nasiphi Moya visited the Bronkhorstspruit hospital on a fact-finding mission. She assured residents that her team was working to find solutions to the water crisis. Meanwhile, the Chair of Chairs for Region 7, Patrick Mabona, says although water has been restored to taps, it is still not safe to drink. Authorities are continuing to investigate the reported illnesses, as concerns grow over the quality of the water supply in the area.

Watervaal couple: A recovering addict defends arrested couple

Mpumalanga-An anonymous victim of alcohol addiction has come forward in defence of the couple arrested for allegedly operating an illegal rehabilitation centre in Waterval, Mpumalanga. The man says the centre, which also serves as a church, helped him overcome alcohol abuse and provided him with a sense of belonging. He describes the arrested couple as family, crediting them for supporting him on his journey to recovery. The man believes the couple has been wrongly arrested, arguing that their work has helped members of the community struggling with addiction. His account comes amid growing concerns over the availability of rehabilitation services and calls for more support for people battling substance abuse.

Kakaramba foundation slams Mpumalanga government over drug rehabilitation crisis

Mpumalanga-The founder of the Kakaramba Foundation, Thando Masango, has criticised the Mpumalanga provincial government for what he describes as a lack of solutions to the rehabilitation of drug addicts. Masango’s comments follow the arrest of a couple in Waterval for allegedly operating an illegal drug rehabilitation centre. He says the situation highlights the need for government to provide accessible and properly equipped rehabilitation facilities for people struggling with drug addiction. The arrests have also raised concerns about the availability of legal rehabilitation services for families seeking help for loved ones battling substance abuse. .

DA to open a case over the Bronkhorstspruit water crisis

The Executive mayor of the City of Tshwane cautioned residents against drinking the water as investigations continue to establish the cause of the illnesses. The city is working to determine whether water quality may be contributing to the outbreak. Residents are urged to follow the latest guidance from the municipality and health authorities while investigations continue.

Gauteng-The family of the late City Press reporter, Nompumelelo Magagula is mourning the loss of their loved one, while questions surrounding the circumstances of her death remain a concern. her mother, Thembi Mthimunye says Magagula was brought by her boyfriend already dead to her home. The 30-year-old City Press entertainment journalist died on 15 March 2026. Her death left behind a grieving mother and a young daughter.
