INTRO:Parliament's Section 89 Impeachment Committee is studying urgent court papers filed by President Cyril Ramaphosa to halt his impeachment process.Committee Chairperson Makashule Gana confirmed that they received the interdict from Ramaphosa's lawyers, with the committee's legal team now assessing it.The president approached the Western Cape High Court, seeking to block the committee's work until a separate review of the Section 89 panel report is concluded.The report found prima facie evidence Ramaphosa may have violated the Constitution over the 2020 theft of foreign currency at his Phala Phala farm in Limpopo.Impeachment Committee Chairperson Makashule Gana said that the matter will be tabled at the committee's next meeting on June 24.
