In response to what they describe as unfair treatment and lack of engagement, the community has taken a stand, announcing an immediate halt to the work of the renewed contractors until their grievances are addressed. The Electoral Commission is urging political parties and aspiring independent candidates to submit their candidate nomination and supporter lists early through the Online Candidate Nomination System, or OCNS. This follows the Commission CEO's message on Morning Live this morning. The Commission says early submissions will help avoid a last-minute rush before the system closes in the third week of August. Since OCNS opened in June, more than 20 political parties have already used the platform. To support the process, the Commission also held nationwide training over the past two weeks. More than 200 political parties and independent candidates attended sessions on how to use the system effectively. The Commission says OCNS allows parties and independents to capture, manage candidate lists, and monitor progress at their convenience. Reserve Bank Governor Lesetja Kganyago made the announcement yesterday. Governor Kganyago says the decision follows an incredibly uncertain economic environment and the committee was split, with four members voting to hold and two favoring a 25-basis point. Recently, the school's aging infrastructure prompted engagement between the School Governing Body (SGB), the Department of Education, and the local community. Following a directive from the department, most of the classrooms were demolished to make way for new buildings, leaving only two classroom blocks—one with two classrooms—while the rest of the space is now used for staffrooms and storerooms. As a result, learners are currently studying outdoors under trees, raising concerns about weather conditions during the rainy season. The community has appealed to the department for mobile classrooms as an interim solution and highlighted ongoing issues with learner nutrition, noting that on the first day of school, no food was provided, leading to early closures.
