The International Relations Department has quashed allegations that Nigerians and Ghanaians are being killed in South Africa. This as tension involving locals and migrants continues in parts of South Africa. INTRO: Acting Police minister Firoz Cachalia has released National crime stats today, he says murder had decreased by 9.5% nationally while violent crimes declined by 4.6%. He is presenting the fourth quarter crime statistics for the period January to March this year. He says in the same period last year - 5-thousand- 727 people were murdered. However that number has come down to 5-thousand-181, meaning there were 546 fewer lives lost in the quarter under review. He says there's also been a 20,4% reduction in house robberies, 18,3% in business robberies and 22% reduction in the robberies at non-residential premises compared to the same period last year.
