The Forbes Women Africa Awards, started with the Leading Women Summit where powerful speeches and insightful panel discussions were held. Then a glitzy night followed where women were honored for all the success and powerful impact they have on our continent. Food is more than just sustenance—it's culture, it's connection, and for some, it's even a business. Meet Nthabiseng Mathole, a content creator who turned her love for traditional cooking into a social media movement. Through #Dipitsastofong. Recently, homeowners, aspirant decorators and DIYers gathered at an exhibition in Kyalami, Johannesburg to get a touch and feel of what could be added to their spaces - to beautify them along with the latest trends in soft and structural finishes.

Tonight we take a look at some of the stars that passed away and left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry, and then we cast our eyes towards Oscar preparations underway in LA ahead of Sunday. It was a night of glitz and glam in the theme shades of black last night in Krameville Sandton as the music awards season kicked off in South Africa with a nominations ceremony. The Metro FM music awards are back and bigger than before. In fashion, African Bank has introduced a range of clothing which integrates African aesthetics into contemporary styles for their workers. In collaboration with local designers Khosi Nkosi Fashion House, the range will be heading to Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks soon. It always melts our hearts when scenic destinations tell a story of just how strikingly beautiful South Africa is, but this week we got more than just the story of the beauty that lies in untapped travel destinations with legendary actor Gerry Mofokeng wa Makhetha and his wife, mama Claudine. To wrap up the month of love, we chat to Author and Dating Coach, Dudu Nhlabathi-Madonsela about dating principles shared in, "The Dating Playbook" on how to win at Mjolo and Love. We recently celebrated the legacy of Africa's musical instruments at the University of Johannesburg, Curated by the music in Africa Foundation, rythms and melodies of Samthing Soweto with 2 time Grammy Award nominated acapella group - Just 6 and the legendary instrumentalist Dizu Plaatjies showcased the best of African sounds in an interactive and educational way for all to enjoy. Musician, Kapi Gantsu serenades us with his soul-stirring melodies as we close off the month of love and hear more from his latest album.

We start with a wrap of entertainment news that made headlines this week. The highly acclaimed South African short film, The Last Ranger, directed by Cindy Lee and produced by Anele Mdoda and Lebo M has been nominated for Best Live Action Short Film at the upcoming 97th Academy Awards. We attend an exclusive screening. Then we caught up with the multifaceted Kgothatso Modumo of Angel Gabriel Designs, an individual celebrated for his exceptional contributions to the fashion industry to explore his latest range, inspired by love. Musician, J Something's Lovers Rock music and food picnic was a delight with cooking lessons and opportunities to chat about love. Next, we get a taste of Dubai with versatile dishes that have kept foodies in the Emirati city, returning to the festival annually. Singer, Phinda Matlala remains one of South Africa's most cherished musical icons. She joins us to talk about her new EP titled 10 Years-A Decade. Setting the stage ablaze, are two Besties Gigi LaMayne and Sizwe Alakine as we chat about their latest collaboration.

Love is in the air across the global and in this episode, we take a look at Florist Blanche's bouquets are not only pretty to look at and sell, they are edible too. From gorgeous bouquets, chocolate treats and big teddies to cuddle with you're bound to find some cute the World of Love. What does it take to be great? Acclaimed South African flautist and composer Wouter Kellerman has won his third GRAMMY® Award earlier this month at the 67th Annual GRAMMY® Awards and joins us in studio to talk about his album Triveni. Known for his authentic, emotionally evoking full-length LP titled 'License To Feel', Leon John joins us for conversation and a soulful performance.

Cape Town MET

In this episode, we start with a look at the entertainment headlines across the globe in the News Wrap. In fashion, we look at the 163rd instalment of the Cape Town Met, where fashion took centre stage under the theme COUTURE UNLEASHED. Then, our fashion gurus Emmanuel Tjiya and Thulane Hadebe highlight the looks at this year's CPT Met. For our fitness bunnies, we chat with experts who provide tips on nutritious meals and exercise. Nutrition is vital to obtaining and keeping a healthy body, we create a balanced meal with all the nutritional properties by creating smoothies, for a on the go snack with an NPL Dietician. Then we go to Cape Town, where fashion and horse racing take centre stage at the second annual World Sports Betting Cape Town MET takes place. We stay with fashion as fashion show curator and designer Gavin Rajah highlights the showcase. Now onto a film, we chat with filmakers about a body of work that has placed South Africa on the global cinema stage - 'Old Righteous Blues' Keeping you healthy- we take a look at the work of Biokineticist Justine Johnson, as she helps improve the functionality of various bodies at various levels. Joining us today are musicians Xowla and Lwah Ndlunkulu. Xowla's latest single, 'Umsindo Wenhliziyo,' is a collaboration.

In theatre, the classical sounds of ABBA "Dancing Queen and Mamma Mia," have been worked into Mzansi Ballet's 'The ABBA Show: A Cinderella Story', a culmination of the magic of music and a fairytale. We bring you a look inside the Pieter Torien Theatre at Montecasino. Some of the past years' most viral moments emanate from podcasters and their guests covering a range of topics. Then we go on a sensory journey with a Beauty Entrepreneur who shared insights on her love of fragrances and how scents interact with our skin. We spent some time at the Shoshanguve Hotel which treats its guests to a five-star stay right in the middle of ekasi. Still on getaways, as if taking a trip to Asia we enjoy various cuisines at Waterfall in Midrand. Joining us in studio for some beautiful tunes musician Ntethelelo 'Ntethe' Mposwa discusses his triumphant return to Gospel music.

Trendz Live - 13 December 2024 | Christmas countdown and festive goodies

As we countdown to Christmas on this episode, we check out Santaland in Fourways, an adventurous and child-like magical space. Then it's lights galore as we visit the enchanting Christmas Village at Emperor's Palace. In the spirit of giving this festive, Mzansi Ballet brings hope, creating a unique tradition of distributing ballet shoes to uplift aspiring dancers across the country. We even decorate a Christmas tree live on set. In the arts, we chat with talented actress Didi Khunou who appeared in various productions, and tap into the works behind the scenes that create such greatness. In fashion, Mzansi's Best Dressed Woman of the Year, content creator and entrepreneur, Lisa Madibe, shares a few tips for how to be fashionably bold and authentic to self this festive season. We explore and admire furious, sexy classic vehicles at a showroom in Hydepark, just before we enjoy the best Korean, Vietnamese, and Japanese cuisines right here in Mzansi at Waterfall in Midrand. Finally, musician Njelic talks about his music, sharing it with others and also serenades us!!!

This payday weekend edition of Trendz Live was epic as per usual. We kick off by celebrating the vibrant pulse of the '90s by taking it back with Mzansi's legendary South African DJ, music producer, and entrepreneur, Oskido ahead of a big event celebration that is set to pay homage to Mzansi's rich cultural heritage in South Africa. We chatted to storyteller, writer, actor, producer and comedian, Phillip Dikotla who's set on delivering something special to audiences before Christmas in Cape Town and Johannesburg. We visit the Cheetah Outreach facility dedicated to raising awareness and protecting the majestic cheetahs, a place where visitors get a unique chance to connect with cheetahs and other animals while learning about conservation in a fun, interactive way. We also explore another element of the "More Than Music" program at the Sunsets Festival World Tour that took place earlier this month in Cape Town. This time we are exploring environmental awareness through mural artist, Hakopike who highlights the impact of plastic waste and sustainability efforts through art. We headed to Emperor's Palace, East of Jozi as chefs brought forth their best skills and culinary excellence for a prize. A recent Gourmet Fest showcased the vibrant synergy of skill, innovation, and empowerment within South Africa's food service industry. We explored skating at a skate park situated on a mall rooftop for an adrenaline-pumping session. Then we close off the show with award-winning musician, Richardo "Priddy Ugly" Moloi who is living it up and making his mark in the music industry with his versatile sound.

We are in conversation with Gauteng Tourism to discuss their campaign which promotes responsible practices during the festive season and exciting things to do in GP for families. In entertainment, we meet one of South Africa's most-loved TikTok dance content creators, Chad Jones who has taken social media by storm. Global fragrance creators landed in Jozi for some fun informative sessions, so we attended an enchanting scent experience at the gallery in Rosebank. In art, we experience the incredible artwork of Cape Town's very own sculptor Marco Olivier whose creations have taken the city by storm. Then we witness the reveal of a monumental sculptor by Daniel Popper, that perfectly fits the Sunsets Festival. Still on artistic brilliance, the Wits Art Museum is exhibiting the artwork of Dr Esther Mahlangu's career which spans over 50 years. Then we get tips on what adventures and luxurious places are available for you and your furry friends this festive season.
