Themba and Phumi are separating, but not entirely. In their stubbornness they've decided to be petty and literally split the apartment in half. Gideon, Fishbone, Thoko and Nina are not taking the separation well. They have broken off into factions. Nobuhle plays Themba and Phumi off one another to get more money, believing that she is double the domestic worker now that they’ve split everything.

Themba & Phumi’s separation sinks in as well as the situation around sharing visits with Junior. With Themba not living with Phumi anymore, she invites Thoko Chanel to move in. There is a rat in Sandton Gold and Gideon set out to catch it at all costs. Themba has to leave on a business trip and introduces Phumi’s brother, Madluphutu as the new caretaker in his absence.

Thoko shows Phumi a pamphlet of a sangoma with all sorts of different remedies on it. Phumi invites the Sangoma over to help her with rituals that will help her get her hands on her own money. Gideon Fishbone and Intelligent all share a dislike for Mdluphuthu and decide to make it hard for him at Sandton Gold. Nobuhle convinces Madluphuthu that she can open a spaza shop in the lobby.

Themba’s mom arrives while he’s in Uganda. At Themba and Phumi’s wedding anniversary, Phumi tries to tell her they’ve separated. She hands a cheque to Phumi, made out to Themba and Phumi, and decides to cash it. Nobuhle is upset about her salary so decides to take some of Phumi’s outfits as payment. Nina and Nobuhle pursue the same guy. Gideon and Fishbone run an illegal factory in the basement.

Themba’s mother arrives with a pastor and church choir in tow at Phumi’s apartment in an attempt to save Phumi and Themba’s marriage. Nobuhle has a date and Nina convinces her to try out a new face mask that she is marketing to disastrous effect for poor Nobuhle. Gideon and Fishbone arrive to find their reception desk is missing and they set out to catch the culprit.

Thoko Chanel has a massive clothing sale in the gym and reception. Phumi seems to have spent way too much of Themba’s money on chicken wings, he is furious. Nobuhle has her eyes set on a very expensive pair of white boots, but Nina throws a spanner in the works.

Madluputu wants to close Shades down, but the gang throw a boxing event to raise money to keep the bar open. Phumi’s financial situation has really taken a hit on her public image, and it is time for her to get a job. She get an interview, but needs a new wardrobe to look her best.

Phumi struggles at her new job, on the verge of losing it, doing everything she can to salvage it. It’s rent day in Sandton Gold and Intelligent have a garage sale to make his rent money. Gideon is not happy with Intelligent selling donated items from Sandton Gold residents that is close to his heart. Madluphuthu and Nobuhle fall in love with one of the items he is selling and it is war.

Themba returns looking better than ever and seems to have a new love interest that makes Phumi jealous. Little does he know that it’s Thoko cat fishing him. Phumi hires a private investigator to see what Themba is up to. Meanwhile Nobuhle is going to meet the man of her dreams but it seems that it might be Gideon or Intelligent, they panic and do everything they can to put her off.

Themba hires a lawyer to speed up the divorce process. Phumi is pressed for cash and can’t afford a lawyer but the lawyer she gets proves to be extremely incapable. Nina sets Madluphuthu up on a series of dates. Things go awry and Madluphuthu and Nina gets drunk and the two of them find themselves in a very sticky situation.

Gideon’s surprise birthday party in Shades turn into total chaos which almost leads to Phumi ending up in jail as she stole Themba’s credit card to pay for the party. There is serious rivalry between Phumi and Nina as to who are the best party planners.

Nina is feeling ill and rumour quickly spreads that she is pregnant and Madluphuthu is the father. Phumi is extra friendly to Themba and he gets suspicious.

A mediator is called in to sort out the animosity between Phumi and Themba. Themba is still Uganda, and an impersonator Themba stands in for him during the negotiations. Madluphuthu is Themba’s proxy concerning any decisions relating to Sandton Gold. He jokingly tells Gideon that if he wins the lotto, Madluphuthu will hand Sandton Gold over to him.

Gideon becomes a slumlord after having the building handed to him by Madluphuthu in the previous episode - he doesn't understand why, with all this prime real estate, they have so few Tenants and sets out to remedy the situation to make more money.

With Sandton Gold resembling an apocalyptic fallout shelter and Gideon expecting a building inspection, a plan is hatched to get undesirable tenants to leave while, at the same time, Phumi and Nobuhle make money from these tenants and Nina chooses whether to continue her pot smoking habit.

There is much excitement from Madluphuthu as his pet chameleon has finally arrive from KZN. Phumzile and Thoko is entranced by its ability to change colours and things go very wrong when they pet sit the chameleon while Madluphuthu is out to a meeting. Fishbone has entered a wheelchair drag racing competition and due to bad weather it is moved interior to Sandton Gold.
