5 Extra is our dynamic monthly pop-up streaming channel that exists on the 5FM App. The channel adds an additional dimension to our station’s offering and is included in our overall digital landscape. Designed to complement the station’s regular on-air offering the pop-up station is innovative and versatile, offering a variety of music for each month. A creative extension of the 5FM brand, the channel features a variety of content throughout the year. Launched in June this year, ‘5 Extra – the Youth Month Edition’ was aimed at tertiary students and aspiring radio presenters sharing their campus experience. The channel is divided into monthly themes specific to what is happening in the world and South Africa. These included; Pride Month, Heritage Month, Youth Month and Love Month. We also included ‘5 Extra – Studify’ during Matric finals, and more recently ‘5 Extra – Summerfest’ for December.
